Free Web Hosting

Okay, we all know what this is. This is what enables people like me to put up webpages that help people. So let's have a great big thank-you to all those free web hosting companies out there (especially freeservers). There are a lot of these companies, and sometimes it can be hard to tell them apart. So if you're looking for a place to put your page, this is a must.

FreeServers.com - This is my favorite. They give you your own address at http://(whatever).(blah).com, as well as an e-mail address at the same. This is great, because it's much easier to remember. They also provide you with a lot of utilities to build your page with, and links to free graphics, javascripts, and more. They also have upgrades, where you can pay to register your own domain name, or just get rid of ads on your page.

The Globe - This one's pretty good. They provide you with some special Globe members only tools, which I like. They put a frame on the top of your page, though. In return, they have one of those annoying ads pop up. Does anyone know how to get rid of those things? }:-P Be warned, they'll NEVER stop e-mailing you, though.

Tripod - Another web hosting site. I can't really say a whole lot about their member support, because I've never put up a page with them. At best, I can say that they don't have anything to make them stand out from the crowd.

Geocities - What can I say? It's the biggest, and I like the arrangement by "cities." They have a VERY user friendly site builder for those who don't know html- It's the best I've ever seen for free. If you don't know any html, I'd suggest going with them.

Xoom - This one puts a small frame on top of your screen instead of an ad popup. It can be good or bad, as you can't get rid of it! They're main page is also difficult to navigate. On the upside, they provide more free resources than any other service.

Angelfire - Angelfire is one of the oldest web hosting services. It doesn't really stand out, and they have those stupid ad popups just like everyone else.
